Some Feedback about Electrolytic Capacitors
Large-value electrolytic capacitors are an easy solution to keep DC offset out of low-impedance sources like MM cartridges. Yet, many audio designers (and customers!) are leery of exposing the minute MM signals to electrolytics which may or may not be non-linear for such small signals. But even if you're not sure it is a real problem, Kendall's fix to linearize the electrolytic by including it inside the feedback loop is so simple and cheap that you can't afford NOT to use it. En passant he describes a simple bootstrap solution to make a coupling capacitor look like a much larger value one than it actually is.
