The Art and Science of the Audio Review
The Art and Science of the Audio Review Vol 8
In his Guest Editorial, Stereophile editor John Atkinson discusses his views of what the ingredients are for a good and useful audio review. He makes the case that measurements are an important part, if only to weed out sub-par products. Listening tests are important to tell readers what they can expect, and to help them select promising products for personal audition. All reviewers have their personal biases, and it is important to fully disclose likes, dislikes and preferences so readers can use that information to put the review in perspective. This essay has many sample test graphs from previous reviews to illustrate the points.
